A week into our trip to the Netherlands the family decided to go to the WWII Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. The museum was there to show how the resistance worked and the sacrifices people made to fight the Nazis. It showed everything from where people hid Jews to how they sent messages in code.
Here are just a few we will remember:

| When the Resistance wanted to smuggle guns undetected they would put them in strollers like this and cover with a baby. |

| The Nazis were less suspicious of girls than guys, so one thing girls would do was pretend to be pregnant, and stuff their 'maternity' corsets with ration cards. There were many stories of guys also stuffing their clothes with all kinds of things, thus being able to carry out their business without being detected. |

| Since rubber was needed for the war, people had to improvise, like this bike with a wooden back tire and a tricycle front one. |

| We walked home scheming about how we could hide people in our house. |
